Indian Rice and Peas

Rice, cooked separately
Oil
Mustard seeds
Curry leaves
Cumin powder
Peas
Salt, to taste

Heat oil in pan. Do the usual routine of adding mustard seeds, curry leaves, turmeric, and cumin powder. Once the spices have blended, add peas.
After frying the peas for some time, add salt to taste. Add the rice to the peas and mix everything well.

Variation: You can also make this dish using cauliflower, potatoes, and/or shredded carrots instead of peas. Do this by cutting cauliflower and potatoes to pieces that are a little smaller than an inch. Fry the vegetables until they are soft. Then add rice and mix thoroughly.
