Indian Rice and PeasRice, cooked separately Heat oil in pan. Do the usual routine of adding mustard seeds,
curry leaves, turmeric, and cumin powder. Once the spices have blended,
add peas. Variation: You can also make this dish using cauliflower, potatoes, and/or shredded carrots instead of peas. Do this by cutting cauliflower and potatoes to pieces that are a little smaller than an inch. Fry the vegetables until they are soft. Then add rice and mix thoroughly.
