Easy Tofu
2 boxes tofu
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 handful TVP
Black pepper, to taste
1/2 green pepper, cut into small cubes
1 can sliced mushrooms, washed and drained
~2 tablespoons soy sauce, to taste
A pinch salt and pepper
1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons mushroom powder (optional)
1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon water
Wash Tofu. Cut into small cubes. Drain.
Soak TVP in water. Once soaked, wash TVP under sink until no bubbles form.
Squeeze the TVP dry.
Prepare cornstarch mixture by mixing the cornstarch with the water. Set
aside.
Heat oil in nonstick pan. Pour in the tofu. Slightly brown the tofu. Add
TVP. Stir. Add mushrooms. Add soy sauce to taste. Mix well. Add a small
pinch of salt and black pepper.
Boil and let cook for 5-10 minutes to allow for the flavor to soak in.
Taste the tofu so far. Add mushroom powder. Dump green pepper into the
mix. Cook for 1 more minute. Add the cornstarch mixture to thicken the
sauce. Add sesame oil.
